The Projects Manager heads the ‘Project & Future Technology’ department and will directly report to the Director of Technology. This role is responsible for planning and managing multiple concurrent IT and  Broadcast projects across Sky News Arabia’s various linear and nonlinear delivery platforms, from initiation through to delivery.  The Projects Manager should be able to lead and manage technology projects with a strong focus on delivery, risk and quality, taking a balanced view of delivery of solutions across time, cost and quality and be able to communicate effectively to non-technical audiences and stakeholders.  Another key responsibility of this role is to bring in new technologies that are relevant for Sky News Arabia and help other teams in smooth transitioning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining an effective communication system with key stakeholders and project team members and ensure that an effective and regular communication structure exists.
  • Delivering the project within the brief, and without breaking the constraints of time, cost and functionality. 
  • Contributing to project design, and verifies that it is suitable for implementation.
  • Ensuring that Integration and Testing teams have the appropriate test documentation and then working with them to complete the test process.
  • Engaging with the relevant Support and Operational teams at the earliest sensible stage of the project to enable the system to go live in a fully supported and operational state.
  • Ensuring that all work is carried out to the standards laid down and that the highest quality of service is provided by the department to the Business Unit customers.
  • Using effective problem solving techniques within a highly technical and fast moving environment, often to tight deadlines.
  • Bringing in new technologies and implement the same effectively.

 

Key Skills, Experience and Education:
  • A recognized project management qualification or demonstrable career development activities (desirable).
  • Engineering degree or a similar discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading projects successfully.
  • Good / expert knowledge of project lifecycle, artefacts, techniques and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of  relevant legislation, including procurement, contracts, health and safety.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Significant communication (verbal, written, listening) and influencing skills.
  • Good written and spoken Arabic and English.
